Who in today's world has had only one career? If you answer yes to this question I suspect you are in the minority.

I have had many. Not to bore everyone too much, I will just mention a few. The first major one in my life was university student. Yes i considered this similar to a job. Four years later I had my first degree. After a stint of travel and a brief career in the food industry I went back to being a student. This led to another degree. I then worked in IT until i branched out onto my own as a IT consultant. To this point I had a few careers and none of them related to photography.

But ... I have always had photography as a hobby to capture personal moments of family, vacations, and travel.

In 2003, digital photography had big break through in camera technology. This was the light that i was looking for. I was able to purchase a modest camera and begin to take my photography more serious. Years followed in which I mainly explored nature photography. In 2009, life changes came about that allowed me to look at combining my passionate hobby into a new career.

This led to the creation of Vertical Images.

I have been fortunate in my career choices in that I have always enjoyed what I do. To me this is important for two reasons. First you spend approximately 1/3rd of everyday doing your career so you better like it! Secondly, and most important to me, you can always tell that someone likes their career. They do exceptional work and always give their best effort.

Photography for me is a path that I am excited to take. It has been and will continue to be a journey of learning, trying, failures and success.

I am based in Calgary, Alberta with my wife, two boys, and Hector. This is a land of unlimited photography opportunities.

Let the journey begin!
